DFB Health & Safety Program

At the DFB Group, Safety is our #1 Priority. Our group has established an excellent reputation for workplace health and safety practices that meet and exceed industry standards. We maintain extraordinary safety statistics supported by a system of strict procedures and regulations, but most importantly, by promoting a culture that places considerable value and emphasis on workplace health and safety.

The DFB Group currently holds a Certificate of Recognition from the Newfoundland & Labrador Construction Safety Association (NLCSA). This qualification recognizes that the Group maintains a company-wide health and safety program suited to identify and promote safe work as well as prevent work-related injuries.

The DFB Health & Safety program comprises the following:

  • Work Place Observation Cards - designed to identify safe-work and risky behavior and in-turn provide positive or corrective feedback
  • Job Hazard Analysis Cards - to identify potential hazardous materials and activities related to specific jobs and projects
  • TapRoot Root Cause Analysis Program - designed to solve safety problems both reactively and proactively. TapRoot is an incident investigation program used by leading companies around the world that uses advanced theory and technology to identify the root cause of major accidents, near misses and everyday incidents. The DFB Group currently has a trained TapRoot team to identify root causes of workplace incidents.

CEO-CharterIn 2007, Jerry Byrne, CEO of the DFB Group, was one of thirty local business leaders to sign the Workplace Health, Safety & Compensation Commission's (WHSCC) inaugural CEO Leadership Charter.

Participation in the CEO Leadership Charter is a visible commitment from business leaders to help shape a safety culture throughout the province, where accident prevention is seen as a crucial investment, where everyone is responsible to act safely under any circumstance, and leadership is clearly coming from the top of the organization.
